By Rail

The simplest way to get to Cambridge from most UK locations is by train. Cambridge is well-connected to the UK rail network, with regular services to and from London King's Cross, London Liverpool Street, Stansted Airport, Birmingham New Street, and Peterborough. King's College is in the centre of Cambridge, around 1.6 miles (2.5km) from the railway station; see the Getting Around Cambridge section below for maps and information about travelling within the city.

By Air

If you plan to arrive by air, the closest major airport is London Stansted. It is also straightforward to reach Cambridge from London Heathrow and London Gatwick. Instructions on how to get to Cambridge from each airport are provided below.

From London Stansted: A train runs from Stansted Airport to Cambridge approximately every 30 minutes during the day. The train journey takes around 30 minutes and a single fare should cost about £10. There is also a direct bus service from Stansted Airport to Cambridge, operated by National Express. The bus journey takes about 50 minutes and a single fare costs around £10. From London Heathrow: One may reach Cambridge from London Heathrow Airport by train or bus. To get to Cambridge by train, first take the London Underground (Piccadilly line) from Heathrow Airport to King's Cross, then catch a train from King's Cross to Cambridge. The full journey should take about 2 hours and a single fare should cost around £30. There is also an hourly direct bus service from Heathrow Airport to Cambridge, operated by National Express. The bus journey takes between 2:20 and 3 hours, and a single fare costs around £30. From London Gatwick: One may reach Cambridge from London Gatwick Airport by train or bus. To get to Cambridge by train, first catch a train from Gatwick Airport to London St. Pancras, then transfer to London King's Cross (which is just across the street) and catch a train to Cambridge. The full journey should take about 2:20 and a single fare should cost around £35. A direct bus service also runs from Gatwick Airport to Cambridge every two hours, operated by National Express. Getting Around Cambridge

If you are arriving by train, King's College is in the centre of Cambridge, around 1.6 miles (2.5km) from the railway station; the walk takes about 30 minutes (see the map below). To get from the railway station to the college by public transport, one may take bus Citi 1, Citi 3, or Citi 7 to Emmanuel Street. These buses depart every 5 minutes (on weekdays) from Stop 2 outside the station. At the time of writing, a single fare from the railway station to Emmanuel Street costs £1.60 and may be purchased from the driver as you board the bus. From Emmanuel Street it is a 0.4 mile (0.6km) walk to King's College. There is also a taxi rank directly outside Cambridge railway station.

If you are arriving by National Express bus, the National Express terminal in Cambridge is located on Parkside, about 0.6 miles (1km) from King's College.
